Tiago Oliveira Botelho is currently a Senior Business Development Manager at IRB Barcelona. With a strong technical background given by over 15 years experience in different biomedicine related projects both in academic and business environments. Interested in Innovation, technology transfer and applying innovation to biotechnology and entrepreneurship.
Prior to this, they worked as a Research Project Manager at Salupharma Biosimilars S.A. from March 2012 to January 2013, where they were responsible for R&D project management in inflammation and oncology, as well as business development and consulting projects on European Biosimilar medicines' regulatory aspects and market compliance with EMA/FDA regulations. From April 2011 to March 2012, they worked as a Consultant at Guidepoint Global, providing technical assistance and market research for biotechnology projects. From July 2010 to August 2010, they worked as a Short-stay Researcher at UCIBIO, conducting research on pathogenic strains and standard microbiology techniques. From October 2009 to March 2011, they worked as a Post-doc at IRB Barcelona on the project “structural and functional studies on zinc-dependent hydrolases and their inhibitors”. Their main responsibilities included molecular biology techniques, protein expression in E. coli, protein purification, protein crystallography, antibody purification, ELISA, large-scale fermentation, and software/hardware management.
Tiago Oliveira Botelho has a wide range of experience in the field of life sciences. Tiago has a degree in applied chemistry and biotechnology from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a PhD in biotechnology from Universidad Barcelona, and a Doctor of Philosophy in biomedicine from Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia. Tiago also has a post-graduate degree in project management from the Project Management Institute. In addition to their academic credentials, they have also undertaken leadership roles in tech transfer and new venture creation and marketing in health/life sciences.
